Godiva is one of the most glamorous names in Belgian chocolate, a brand that has elevated the gifting of fine chocolate into a true art form since its founding in Brussels in 1926. The house was established by Pierre Draps, a passionate confectioner who began crafting pralines in a small home workshop and selling them through Brussels department stores. Inspired by the legend of Lady Godiva, the brand adopted the name and equestrian imagery that have defined its identity ever since. By 1958, Godiva had opened its first international boutique in Paris on the prestigious Rue Saint Honore, signalling its ambitions as a house of global luxury. In 1968, the Belgian Royal Court awarded Godiva an official appointment as royal chocolatier, a distinction that cemented its prestige. The brand's signature gold ballotin box has become one of the most recognisable symbols of chocolate luxury in the world, given as a gift for every celebratory occasion. Godiva's range encompasses pralines, truffles, ganaches, and seasonal collections crafted with Belgian chocolate expertise and a refined palate for flavour. Though now owned by Turkish conglomerate Yildiz Holding, Godiva continues to honour its Belgian roots and remains a byword for indulgent, beautifully presented chocolate of the finest quality.
